Almost MACH2 Leland!

Almost to MACH2!!!!

Leland is less than 100 points away from MACH2 :) Pictures to come...

Fingers crossed for April. If all goes well, we will head out to AKC Nationals the first weekend (Virginia) and then go back the next week or the weekend after to Maryland for PCA. Hopefully we MACH there....three years in the making!

POTC NADAC

There's never a bad time for a NADAC trial. So of course, for my first Valentine's Day with Paul, I would naturally enter a trial, right? Right. He got to see me in all my obsessive glory. Leland did amazing...although I think this weekend proved we may never acheive NATCH :( Big bummer. But of the how many trials he's been in Elite Chances, we have zero Q's. Not only do we have zero, but we've never even been remotely close. BIG bummer I want NATCH. We're AMAZING at every other class. We rock at Weavers, we kill at Touch-N-Go....I mean really. Chances? UGH!

I also got the chance to run another BC. Sketch is ~2 years old and FAST. She's actually under pretty good control, especially for a baby border collie. I will try to get a link on here to her video when her owner posts it. We ran an Open Tunnelers course in 19 seconds :) That's 11 tunnels. Crazy fast. She won of course. But the big disappointment was my neighbor ran her saturday and ran the course (10 tunnels) in 17.14 seconds. I ran Sketch at 7.09 yards per second and Tim ran her at 7.14 yards per second. Crap. Lost to Tim by so little. Next time Tim, next time.

I'll have videos posted soon hopefully. If I ever get a break from classes that is. Bio test done, physics test thursday, and psych test monday. As well as a term paper and writing my research project up before next week. I'd rather go run chances all day ;)

An update...FINALLY

So it's been WAY too long since the last update. Since MACh we haven't done too much. A couple local trials, training class once a week, and well...relaxing :) I pushed REALLY hard to get those last points and I know LE needed a break. He got to enjoy his birthday playing with a cardboard box (his choice, I promise). Happy 5th birthday Leland!

On our break I let Leland go back to being a dog (which he LOVES). The 12"+ of snow outside right now is his main concern. But while he returns to hunting and guarding, I had the opportunity to work with a couple Saluki puppies. I posted a link to some videos of theirs below. Pretty entertaining :) Of course I am a *little*partial to Vulcan...so he gets his own video below :)

Sorry no big updates on LE...but we have a NADAC show this weekend. Wish us luck and watch for videos sunday night!

Leland, Jett, and the RC Car

Yesterday was a BEAUTIFUL day, so dad got his RC car out to run on the street. Jett and Leland haven't had any run time for a LONG time so dad invited them outside to chase the little car. Below are the videos of the boys and the car. It's so cute :)

Crown Classic

I went temporarily insane a couple weeks ago and entered Leland in the Crown Classic at the I-X Center in Cleveland, OH.

Insane because this is a HUGE HUGE HUGE show and Leland doesn't like crowds. So off we drove at 5 am thursday morning.

Leland walks into the I-X Center (which is such a big building it had over 35 dog rings, crating areas, 2 food courts, AND an indoor ferris wheel in the center that pokes through the roof) and gets terrified.

Our standard run was sloooooooooooooooooooooooooow but a Q and 4 points. We continued to walk around and shop for a couple hours between runs. I also decided that I would take him to the dog reader. Doris was AMAZING. I owe her the world. She told me about Leland's last life and how that is affecting him now. She also gave me a new pre-trial routine.

Did it work?

YES! He put his tail up and BOOKED across the jumpers course in 30 SECONDS! He got 8 points and.... ready for this? WAS TWO SECONDS OFF OF PLACING! Oh yeah...there were over 60 dogs in his class :-)

I also had the oppurtunity to run Sue Klar's baby BC, Bonus (Winthrop Added Value) in her second ever trial, 4th run. WE HAD A BEAUTIFUL Q!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY! It was amazing and felt the best run ever. I'm so proud of our work...and SO thankful that Sue let me run her! :-) She's a special little girl.... :-)
